[10p-S301-5] Time-resolved 2D temperature measurement of arc discharges by a twin video camera system
Keywords:bipolar arc discharge, 2 dimensional temperature measurement, twin video camera
We are producing SWNTs and nano particles by the bipolar arc discharge method (p(He) ~ 50 kPa, Id= ± 50A, Current pulse of 1 Hz). However, time variation of the electrode's temperature as a function of the pulsed current was not confirmed, which is important for the carbon sublimation. Therefore, we have developded a twin video camera system, by which two video images at two fixed wave-lengths are simultaneously recorded. As a result, we could obtain time variation of the 2D electrode temperature distributions (3000 K of the temperature changes in 10 ms of time). Then 2D distribution of the C2 vibration temperature in the He plasma was measured. As a result, we could obtain the 2D distribution of the C2 temperature (=10000 K).
