European and American tree rings have been used for the calibration curve to correct radiocarbon ages to calendar years in radiocarbon dating, but the data of Japanese tree rings were adopted for the first time in the IntCal20 revised last year. The radiocarbon ages of Japanese tree rings show a characteristic behavior compared to that of Western tree rings. It is necessary to promote radiocarbon dating of tree rings by AMS (AMS-¹⁴C) to verify this behavior.
