[11a-S201-3] Quantum Materials Accelerate Progress in Surface and Atomic-Layer Sciences

Shuji Hasegawa1 (1.Univ. Tokyo)

Keywords:surface physics, atomic-layer materials, topological materials

In the sciences of surfaces, thin films, and atomic layers, recent research on the Rashba effect materials, topological materials, graphene-derived atomic-layer materials and van der Waals materials has flourished, and these new quantum materials have led to renewal of surface and atomic-layer sciences. In this lecture, I would like to introduce new physical properties, which have become hot topics recently, while positioning research on topological surface states and atomic-layer materials in the history of traditional research of surface and thin films.
