Keywords:semiconductor, crystal growth, epitaxial growth

When Professor Isamu Akasaki was working as an assistant of Nagoya University, the crystal growth of semiconductor was at the time of dawn. Professor Akasaki studied the epitaxial growth of Ge by using iodine a transport agent. He applied thermodynamics to predict the growth velocity and the amount of impurity doping. His thermodynamic analysis became a model for the study of vapor growth.
