Keywords:nonlinear optical crystal, glass-ceramics, Pockels effect

In general, optical phase modulators based on Pockels effect are composed of nonlinear optical single-crystal waveguide, which face issues in productivity and compatibility with optical fibers. In order to solve these problems, we have successfully fabricated nonlinear optical glass-ceramic fiber and demonstrated its optical modulation. However, due to a pore formed in the center of the fiber sample, we haven’t achieved its affinity with optical fibers, and it has been difficult to fabricate thin and long fiber samples. In this study, we focused on the unique crystallization mechanism in the precursor glass of the glass-ceramic fiber mentioned above and tried to prevent formation of the pore.
