In recent years, there has been a great deal of activity in the development of sensing technologies for the realization of more advanced automated driving. One such technology is Solid state LiDAR, which has no mechanical moving parts, and it is important to integrate it to higher level. Our group has been investigating optical phased array (OPA), which achieves two-dimensional beam steering only by wavelength sweeping, and has fabricated a one-chip two-dimensional beam scanner with integrated silicon photonics hybrid wavelength tunable laser.
