Keywords:optical phased array, integrated phase monitor

An optical phased array is a device that steers light by controlling the phase of the light and emitting it from a number of ports. It is difficult to deterministically control the optical phase in each waveguide, and for practical use, it is necessary to integrate an optical phase monitor in the device for constant tracking and calibration. In this paper, we have demonstrated that an optical phased array device with an integrated phase monitor fabricated on a silicon photonics circuit can detect the optical phase with sufficient accuracy.
