In practical applications of multiphoton excitation microscopy, there exists a strong demand for compact ultrashort-pulse light sources operated in the 900-nm wavelength region with high operational stability. In order to realize such a short-pulse source, we demonstrated a 980-nm all-fiber picosecond pulse source based on super-continuum generation from a gain-switched semiconductor laser operated at 1064nm. In the experiment, we successfully generated 15-ps pulse train with peak power of over 100 W at 980 nm, which is sufficient for multiphoton excitation.
