Keywords:Optical vortex, Laser-induced forward transfer

We carried out the experiments on laser-induced forward transfer for a liquid thin film of an organic dye solution. Upon irradiating a single shot of 532-nm nanosecond pulsed laser into the thin film, a small droplet is ejected from the donor film due to laser ablation. The droplet is received with a glass substrate a few hundreds of micrometers away from the film. We succeeded in patterning liquid droplets with the diameter of about 30 µm with the use of optical vortex. On the other hand, the size was scattered for liquid droplets transferred with the irradiation of a Gaussian beam. Thus, we demonstrated the potential of optical vortex laser induced forward transfer for patterning small liquid droplets.
