[12a-S402-6] Why is real-time crystallization of protein under laser trapping so difficult?: Elucidation of factors inhibiting crystallization by in situ microspectroscopies
Keywords:Protein, Crystallization, Laser trapping
Laser trapping-induced crystallization method is capable of inducing crystal formation in real-time and at arbitrary locations, i.e., spatiotemporally controlled crystallization, for small biomolecules such as amino acids. However, spatiotemporally controlled crystallization of large biomolecules such as proteins has not yet been achieved. We have performed microspectroscopic measurements under laser trapping to clarify why in-situ crystallization does not occur in proteins under laser irradiation as it does in amino acids.
