The migration of active metal ions such as Ag through amorphous chalcogenides, which are solid electrolytes, by electrochemical reactions is called anomalous diffusion. Anomalous diffusion of silver has been actively studied in a wide range of applications such as sensors and memory. In this study, we report the fabrication of metastable orthorhombic AgTe using anomalous silver diffusion.
Attempts to synthesize this metastable phase in the laboratory have been not reported as of this moment, and the structure and some physical properties have been previously investigated in the mineral orthorhombic AgTe.
