[12p-N105-3] Practical Production Processes of Carbon Nanotubes and Application to Energy Devices

Suguru Noda1 (1.Waseda Univ.)

Keywords:carbon nanotubes, production processes, energy devices

Production methods of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) will be introduced, and the characteristics and issues will be discussed. Then the synthesis of long CNTs using supported catalyst, on flat substrates in fixed bed and on ceramic beads in fluidized bed, will be introduced. A new architecture based on the self-supporting sponge-like film of long CNTs for high-energy density rechargeable batteries will be introduced. Finally, the highly crystalline CNTs by floating catalyst will be introduced, the productivity enhancement via catalyst nucleation control will be discussed, and their application to transparent electrodes and CNT/Si heterojunction solar cells will be introduced.
