[12p-N105-5] Carbon nanotubes as topological materials

Wataru Izumida1 (1.Tohoku Univ.)

Keywords:semiconductor, superconductor, quantum dot

Topological localized states at the edges of the carbon nanotubes appears in the semiconductor energy gap. Almost all the carbon nanotubes, including the metallic nanotubes which exhibits curvature-induced small energy gap, show the topological edge states. The Majorana quasiparticles appear in the superconducting gap due to the superconducting proximity effect. The existence of these topological states suggests that carbon nanotubes can be quantum devices such as qubits.
