当研究グループでは、多層シェル円筒構造を用いたクローキングの設計を行っている。当構造を高速に設計する手法が未確立であったため、先行研究ではニューラルネットワークを用いることで、可視光領域でのクローキング設計の高速化に成功した。これに対して、更なる高速化と最適化を達成するために、遺伝的アルゴリズムを適用した。
