Conjugated polymers (CPs) have attracted much interest for organic field-effect transistors (OFETs). OFET with CP devices offers various features like mechanical flexibility and solution processability. Last decade has witnessed tremendous improvement in mobility using donor-acceptor polymers. To realize high mobility in CP-based OFETs, CP orientation is an effective strategy, and unidirectional floating film transfer method (UFTM) has proven to be effective for preparation of highly oriented films. Film preparation of DPPT-TT, orientation optimization, and charge transport anisotropy will be reported in detail. We found that a small amount of high boiling solvents (HBP) such as chlorobenzene and dichlorobenzene as an additive to chloroform is an effective strategy to improve the orientation of DPPT-TT. We speculate that a small additive of solvents with HBP solvent provides sufficient time for the self-alignment of CP chains assisted via lyotropic liquid crystalline phase transition.
