[12p-N324-2] Application of magnetic levitation utilizing permanent magnets

Eizo Ushijima1 (1.IMRA J)

Keywords:magnetic levitation, Halbach array magnet, magnetic particle-arrangement method

It has been expected that portable biosensor devices can be used as a solution for on-site screening include the detections of the pathogenic microorganisms to minimize the spread of infection. A magnetic particle-arrangement mechanism was implemented on the devices for increasing the sensitivity. On the other hand, the Halbach array magnet (HAM) was prototyped for producing a high magnetic field, even though the magnet was palm size. Furthermore, the Magneto-Archimedes levitation was observed even in the magnetic field environment generated by the HAM. The magnetic particle-arrangement method incorporating the Magneto-Archimedes levitation is an effective method for realizing the highly accuracy of the particle arrangement method.
