Titanium oxide (titania) particles are induced from Ti4+ to Ti3+ by UV irradiation, and transition from diamagnetism to paramagnetism. However, Ti3+ is easily oxidized in the atmosphere and returns to Ti4+. In this study, the titania particles were synthesized in a polymer matrix, and the titania particles were successfully produced and highly dispersed. In addition, the polymer matrix can control oxygen permeability, leading to the stabilization of Ti3+. We will describe the stabilization of unstable fine particles from the viewpoint of composite materials.
