[13a-N324-1] Numerical optimization and evaluation of a grating coupler on diamond NV bulk substrate

Tetsu Takahashi1 (1.Toyohashi Univ .)

Keywords:diamond NV

The diamond nitrogen vacancy (NV) center is expected to be used as a highly sensitive sensor because its emission intensity changes greatly depending on the environment. Aiming at application to surgical handheld magnetic sensors, we have manufactured a probe with a diamond NV substrate fixed to the fiber end and verified high efficiency. However, since diamond has a high refractive index, there is a problem that the light extraction efficiency is low. Since the minimum value of magnetic sensitivity is determined by η∝Δν / C√ (I_0) , it is essential to increase the light intensity from his NV center (I_0) on the diamond substrate. In order to realize higher light extraction efficiency of light emission from the diamond substrate, we investigated by introducing a grating coupler on the diamond substrate.
