In this paper, we compared the transmission spectra of a hetero-core optical fiber with multilayers and multilayer calculations of a similar structure to evaluate the case where the angle of incidence to the multilayers is set near the critical angle. The results showed that the absorption peak of the transmission spectrum widened with the increase of the refractive index on the outside of the fiber. Additionally, the optical intensity decreased in the transmitted wavelength range in both experimental and calculated results. As a result, it is shown that it is effective to set the incident angle in consideration of the refractive index of the outer boundary of the optical fiber.
