Generating the frequency comb in the terahertz frequency range is important for the precise gas spectroscopy and high-speed communications. However, it has been difficult to generate the terahertz frequency comb using a small and efficient semiconductor device, especially in the frequency range of 0.1 to 3 THz until today. In this study, we report on the terahertz frequency comb generation by applying an optical feedback to the resonant-tunneling-diode oscillator, a semiconductor device that oscillates in the frequency range of 0.1 to 3 THz.
