We have recently reported a new technique to fabricate ribbon-like films of oriented CNT/polymer composite through a programmable robotic dispenser. In this technique, CNT/polymer composite ink is extruded through a narrow needle that can be easily drawn up to any length on a flexible/rigid substrate. Moreover, CNT orientation can be easily optimized by varying the casting parameters, wettability of the ink to the substrate, and ink composition.
In this work, the role of CNT alignment on thermal diffusivity will be discussed in detail. It was found that these oriented CNT films possess higher thermal diffusivity in comparison to isotropic films. In addition to this, the effect of CNT length was also crucial to obtain the optimum thermal transport and will be discussed. CNT orientation intensity of films was estimated by the mapping G-band intensity ratio (I00°/I90°). These optimizations concerning dispersion and CNT polymer composite mixture will also be discussed.
