[13p-N107-2] Production of Gd-included carbon nano-capsules by the arc jet method and their medical applications

For the purpose of new MRI reagents and active cancer therapy, gadolinium nano particles have large potential. We are studying about efficient production of Gd-included carbon nano-capsules by use of the JxB arc jet method. At first, produced nano-particles include a lot of short nanotubes, which are not useful. Then, by selecting the background gas species, we could effectively produce 20-nm-sized Gd-included carbon nanoparticles without nanotube growth. Now, control of the shape and their purification method are under our study.
