Keywords:Atmospheric-pressure plasma, Dinitrogen pentoxide, Schizosaccharomyces pombe

Dinitrogen pentoxide (N2O5) is expected to have a wide range of application in biotechnology and other fields due to its unique oxidizing and nitrating properties. However, its conventional synthesize methods requires hazardous raw materials and complicate manipulation, it has not yet been studied on its effects on living organisms, including humans. In this study, we report the growth inhibitory effect of N2O5on Schizosaccharomyces pombe using a new air Atmospheric-pressure plasma device/method we developed, enabling highly-selective production of N2O5 exclusively from sources of air and electricity.
