▲ [13p-N201-5] Electrochemical CO2 reduction: current status and future scenarios
キーワード:electrochemistry, sustainanble energy conversion, carbon dioxide
Electrocatalytic CO2 reduction (E-CO2R), if powered by renewable electricity, can produce hydrogen-carbon-based chemical and fuels without increasing anthropogenic carbon emissions. In light of recent laboratory-scale progress in using E-CO2R to produce commodity chemicals such as ethylene, it is important to consider whether an economically viable path to large scale deployment of this technology can be envisioned. While the economics of direct competition with existing, petroleum-based production methods appear unfavorable, integration of CO2 conversion into existing petrochemical plants is an attractive alternative.
