In the IoT, it is possible to obtain a variety of information from sensors installed in various locations and derive more advanced and important information from them. In this paper, we focus on the sensing system at the edge, and discuss the research and development issues of the three layers of information processing systems, sensor terminals, and sensors that make up the system. In order to promote these R&D activities, it is considered effective to build an R&D platform that has the ability to develop the necessary basic technologies, and this is also discussed.
