A large nonlinear spin Hall effect has been observed at room temperature in centrosymmetric perovskite oxide SrIrO3 thin films, but the mechanism is not clear. In this study, we investigate the mechanism of the nonlinear spin Hall effect in SrIrO3 thin films using first-principles calculations. We find that characteristic spin texture appeared on the Fermi surface due to the inversion symmetry breaking at the surface, causing the nonlinear spin Hall effect.
