[23a-P02-1] Development of High-speed Crystal Actuators Based on Photothermal Effect and Natural Vibration
Keywords:Photothermal effect, Natural vibration, High-speed crystal actuator
Crystals of a salicylideneaniline derivative with an o-amino substituent in enol form exhibited fast bending due to the photothermal effect, finally achieving 500 Hz high-frequency bending by pulsed UV laser irradiation. The temperature gradient was calculated based on a one-dimensional non-steady heat conduction equation, resulting in the successful simulation of the bending motion and the elucidation of the proposed mechanism that a non-steady temperature gradient in the thickness direction causes the photothemally driven bending. Moreover, by irradiating the crystal by pulsed UV laser of the same frequency as the natural frequency of the crystal and making the crystal resonate, 3000 Hz ultra-high-speed bending was achieved.
