Polymer electrolyte fuel cell has many advantages such as light-weight, compact cell design, and low temperature operability. However, there are some problems to conduct protons through polymer electrolyte membrane, such as controlling humidity, thermal stability, and keeping high proton conductivity under high temperature. In this study, we focused on ionic liquid that has a high heat resistance and proton conductivity under low humidity operation. In order to prevent the fluidity of the ionic liquid, a hydrophobic monomer was added to poly(ionic liquid) and polymerized by the RAFT agent. We demonstrated that block copolymer enables proton conductive under high temperature and low humidity.
