In this study, we evaluated the particle size effect on the photothermal conversion of Black Carbon particles.
BCs were generated from various types of organic materials with different carbon numbers, namely ethanol, propanol, and candle, and the generated BCs were observed by SEM and averaged for particle size. The laser intensity dependence of the G-band peaks of the Raman spectra was measured as a function of the temperature of the samples.
The results suggest that BCs with higher carbon content and larger particle size have lower photothermal conversion efficiency even at 532 nm wavelength irradiation light.
