The optical wavelength filter is one of the key devices in the photonic network. In particular, the high-order series-coupled micro ring resonator wavelength filter has a relatively small structure and easy to design.
Generally, as the ring order becomes higher, the design parameters increase and the design becomes complicated.
In this study, we tried to apply machine learning to filter design.
We report that the search performance has improved by changing from the conventional multi-start local search method to the differential evolution method.
