Ultra-lightweight and high-performance electromagnetic wave shielding and absorbers were developed for use in the aerospace industry. By compositing CNTs with cellulose, a material that can be easily tuned from reflection to absorption properties for electromagnetic waves has been fabricated. The fabricated materials show excellent electromagnetic wave shielding and absorbing performance, are ultra-lightweight (bulk density: 10 mg/cm3) and robust, and are expected to be used in a wide range of applications beyond the space and aviation fields.
