Carbon nitride (CN), a layered structure of thermally condensed melamine, has been attracting attention as a new material because of its photocatalytic properties. CN films synthesized by vapor deposition. show highly crystalline CN with an oriented growth, which was not possible with powder. We discuss the electronic properties of CN thin films synthesized by the vapor deposition method using melamine as a source material from their electrical conduction and optical characteristics.
