Transparent polycrystalline ceramics have played an important role in the field of solid-state lasers because of their many advantages. In particular, the establishment of transparent ceramic technology in anisotropic materials dramatically expands the range of material development and leads to the development of new light sources. For these reasons, we have studied Yb doped hexagonal S-FAP (Sr10(PO4)6F2) and succeeded in fabricating transparent polycrystalline ceramics. We report the results of characterization of the obtained sample.
