[16p-Z13-10] Analyzing structure of colloidal silica solution under shear stress
Keywords:Non-Newtonian fluid, Small-angle X-ray scattering
In some colloidal solution, applying shear stress increases (dilatant) or decreases (thixotropy) viscosity. However, it has been difficult to measure the dynamics of structural change, because the structure returns to the original state when the shear stress disappears. In this study, a solution viscosity and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) were simultaneously measured using an X-ray transmission solution cell. An aggregation of colloidal particle was observed by real-time observation of the structural change of colloidal particle cluster.
