[16p-Z16-12] Analysis of non-uniform conductivity in Lithium ion battery by Nanoscale Impedance Spectroscopy (NIS-AFM)

Keywords:Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy, nanoscale, deterioration

Nonuniform distribution of active material in the cathode of lithium ion batteries influences how the performance deteriorates with repeated cycling. We developed nanoscale impedance spectroscopy (NIS) as a new method to evaluate this nonuniformity. It was possible to measure impedance spectra with submicron resolution. Application of NIS to cathodes whose deterioration has progressed by charge / discharge cycles will be presented.
