△ [16p-Z28-3] Development of a portable radioactive inspection system for measuring a small amount of radioactivity concentration of standing trees before felling for log cultivation
Keywords:scintillation detector, radioactive inspection system, Fukushima Daiichi Power Plant accident
Log cultivation of shiitake mushroom production has been declining because of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. To select safe standing trees, we have developed a portable inspection system that can detect a small amount of radioactivity concentration before felling even at a low-level contaminated area (~0.1 μSv/h). In this system, we used the detection of 32-keV characteristic X-ray released from Cs-137. We added a coincidence method for a new prototype. As a result, we could reduce background events and improve the energy resolution of the detector and succeeded to improve the inspection accuracy of this system.
