Log cultivation of shiitake mushroom production has been declining because of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. To select safe standing trees, we have developed a portable inspection system that can detect a small amount of radioactivity concentration before felling even at a low-level contaminated area (~0.1 μSv/h). In this system, we used the detection of 32-keV characteristic X-ray released from Cs-137. We added a coincidence method for a new prototype. As a result, we could reduce background events and improve the energy resolution of the detector and succeeded to improve the inspection accuracy of this system.
