Single biomolecule detection using nanopores has been demonstrated and the geometrical configuration of a single biomolecule can be sensed during its translocation. To drive the translocation, an external voltage difference is applied across the pore membrane for an electrophoretic force acting on the molecule. However, this voltage also induce electroosmotic flow via pore and the direction is opposite to the electrophoretic force. We investigated the electroosmotic flow originated from pore wall and DNA molecule experimentally and numerically. We consider such flow also contributes the DNA clogging, one of major issues of nanopore detection. In this presentation, we describe that a possibility to control the direction of electroosmotic flow by changing pore shape. Our preliminary results indicate that such asymmetric pore generates fluidic flow and controls DNA’s entry paths. Furthermore, such path controls reduce the clog probability of DNA translations.
