Artificial spiking neural network has recently attracted much interest as an approach to understand information processing in the brain. We realized an artificial spiking neuron with coupled degenerate optical parametric oscillators (DOPOs). The DOPO neuron can be controlled to generate two modes of bio-realistic spiking dynamics by changing optical-pump amplitude.
