A coin type Li secondary battery (VL2020) was measured by a photon counting CT with energy sensitive detector. CT images with energy information ( X -ray attenuation coefficient spectra between 30keV to 100keV) were obtained. From the analysis of the X -ray attenuation coefficient spectra, we got effective atomic number and density distributions in the coin type battery. The effective atomic numbers and effective densities changed upon charge-discharge cycle, which showed the spatial distribution in the electrodes. This suggests the photon counting CT system can evaluate the charge-discharge reaction distribution in a Li ion battery.
