[17a-Z13-1] Attempt toward Measurements of Medication Adherence Using Acoustically Stimulated Electromagnetic Method
Keywords:ultrasonic, medication adherence, measurement techniques
The purpose of this work is to examine the possibility of the measurement of medication adherence with ultrasonic wave. Because it will be difficult to distinguish a tablet from other stomach contents through standard echo signals, we utilize an acoustically stimulated electromagnetic (ASEM) method in which ultrasound waves temporally modulate the magnetization of ferromagnetic materials and the induced alternating magnetic fields are detected by an antenna. We prepared a tablet including ferromagnetic materials and investigated whether the tablet could be detected at a distance of 20 cm (corresponding to the distance from the stomach to the body surface) from the antenna.
