△ [17a-Z24-7] Development of ionic liquids-coated core-shell type nanoparticles by RAFT polymerization with particles method and construction of three-dimensional proton conductive channels
Keywords:polymer electrolyte membrane, ionic liquids, polymer coated nanoparticles
In order to develop polymer electrolyte membrane has proton conductivity in a wide range of humidity environments and can replace Nafion®. We have succeeded in fabricating core-shell type nanoparticles coated with ionic liquids composed of poly(vinylphosphonic acid)/imidazole using RAFT polymerization with particles method. The core-shell type nanoparticles have two-dimensional proton conductive channels constructed at the interface between the silica nanoparticles and the ionic liquids. These two-dimensional channels were connected by the stacking of the nanoparticles. The core-shell type nanoparticles had good proton conductivity moreover 10-2 S cm-1 at 60 ° C and 95% RH and showed proton conductivity over a wide humidity environment of 50-95% RH. Moreover, in order to protect the PVPA/Im layer and retain water in the proton conductive channels, PVPA/Im coated silica nanoparticles were further coated with poly(acrylic acid)-b-polystyrene.
