We have recently conducted a theoretical study based on the first-principles calculation on the origin of successful selective CVD growth for vertical heterostructure and in-plane heterostructure of graphene and hBN. As a result, it was clarified that it is possible to create different growth directions depending on whether or not the edge of the island that grew first is terminated with H.
