We designed photovoltaic cells specialized for combination with electrochemical reactors for artificial photosynthesis reactions including H₂ production by water splitting and CO and formic acid production by CO₂ reduction. Compared with highly-efficient double- and triple-junction solar cells, series/parallel-connected triple-junction PV cells yield higher solar-to-chemical conversion efficiency with higher robustness against solar spectrum variation
