[17p-P04-1] Polarization-splitting grating coupler for coupling toward perfectly vertical direction

We have studied the silicon photonic integrated circuit-based LiDAR (PIC-based LiDAR) to realize the small and low-cost LiDAR. Polarization splitting grating couplers(PSGCs) were fabricated to reduce the polarization dependent loss of PIC-based LiDAR. As a result of the evaluation of the fabricated test circuits, it was found that two orthogonal polarized lights were projected coaxially, that is, they have the function of PSGCs as designed.
In presentation, we also report the structure of the designed PSGC, the optical arrangement for evaluation, and the experiment of transmitting the polarization-multiplexed light from the PSGC.
