[17p-P10-5] Improvement of solar-cell performance of inverted organic photovoltaics with Al doped ZnO cathode using polyethyleneimine interlayer
Keywords:organic photovoltaic, polyethyleneimine, Al doped ZnO
Inverted organic photovoltaics (OPVs) use metal oxides as the cathode, so they are more stable in the atmosphere than conventional OPVs and can be fabricated on flexible substrates with long life and poor gas barrier properties. In the current inverted OPVs, the material for the metal oxide clear electrode is ITO, but In is a rare metal and toxic. However, In is a rare metal and toxic. Therefore, we reported a reverse OPV using Al doped ZnO (AZO) composed of ubiquitous elements as a clear electrode and polyethyleneimine (PEI) as an interlayer on AZO. The AZO electrode has a large work function, and it is not possible to obtain an inverted OPVs with good characteristics. However, by stacking PEI, the work function of AZO is reduced and the solar cell properties are improved. In this study, we show that the PEI interlayer improves the power conversion efficiencies in the inverse structure OPVs with three typical bulk heterojunctions.
