Optics and photonics research for computing has been intensively studied recently. Novel principles and technologies for computing functions that utilize unique properties of light, their enabling devices and systems technology developments are important research agenda. Meanwhile, it is also important to examine the roles and values of light from the standpoints of future applications. This symposium consists of leading researchers in the interdisciplinary area involving photonics and computing, intending to share the present status of the fields and explore future new possibilities.
