[17p-Z19-23] Origin and Optical Switching of Perpendicular Magnetization
for Co100-xGdx/Pt Multilayers

This study shows the origin of perpendicular magnetic anisotropy and the role of induced magnetic moment for the Co-Gd/Pt multilayers with various Co-Gd layer thicknesses and alloy compositions. The Co-Gd/Pt multilayers exhibited the single laser pulse all-optical helicity independent switching in the wide Co-Gd composition range, and the maximum switching probability was obtained around the compensation composition of Co-Gd.
