To realize ultra-highspeed terahertz (THz) wave wireless communication, antennas that support transmission/reception in multiple directions become indispensable, and the realization of terahertz wave phase shifters used for such as a phased array antenna is required. Liquid crystals (LCs), which have large anisotropy even in the THz region, are expected for THz applications in recent years. In this study, we attempt to realize LC based THz wave variable phase shifters using the structure of the non-radiative dielectric waveguide (NRD waveguide), and clarify the characteristics of them.
