[18p-P06-16] Comparative Study of Scintillation Properties of Organic-Inorganic Composite Materials Containing GAGG or ZnS:Ag Particles

In this study, we investigated a composite material of GAGG particles and acrylic resin. For comparison, ZnS: Ag particles, which are often studied as such composite materials, were also used. Acrylic resin is different from epoxy resin in that it forms a resin by radical polymerization, and is excellent in curability at low temperature. In addition, it is said that deterioration due to UV light is less than that of epoxy resin, which may be advantageous in the long-term use. As a result of the examination, it was confirmed that both the GAGG particles and the ZnS: Ag particles emit light at a wavelength at which the emission can sufficiently transmitt the acrylic resin . The light yield of the GAGG particle-acrylic organic-inorganic composite material when irradiated with gamma-rays from 137Cs was several thousand photons/MeV, which was higher than that of BGO, but lower than that of the ZnS:Ag particle-acrylic organic-inorganic composite material. From the viewpoint of scintillation decay time, GAGG particle-acrylic organic-inorganic composite material is considered to be superior.
